Continuing Education (CE)

We offer EMT and Paramedic skills verifications and EMT and paramedic continuing education courses. Kern CPR is an approved training site for the NREMT. EMTs, Paramedics and others required to earn CEs to do so in order to maintain their certifications. Kern CPR is staffed with an NREMT approved Training Officer to help educate and guide those wishing to maintain the NREMT certifications. In addition to NREMT, we are also a California EMS and Kern County EMS approved CE provider. Instruction is delivered both by instructor lead and computer based methods to fit the students scheduling needs.

Which Course Should I Take?

EMTs

Current California EMTs (24 hours)

24 hours of CE hours are required every 2 years to maintain certification. Our 24-hour CE course is offered in a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evening format (some scheduling modifications made as necessary) over 2 concurrent weeks. This course includes your AHA BLS renewal, skills sign off and optional skills verification.

Current NREMT EMTs (40 hours)
Advanced EMTs (50 hours)

40 (or 50) hours of CE hours are required every 2 years to maintain certification. Our 40 (or 50) hour CE course includes your AHA BLS renewal, skills sign off, optional skills verification and has additional days added to the 24 hour course as needed. Student must request affiliation with Kern CPR through their NREMT log in.

Paramedics

Current California Paramedics (48 hours)

48 hours of CE hours are required every 2 years to maintain certification. Our 48 hour CE course is offered in a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evening format (some scheduling modifications made as necessary) over 4 concurrent weeks. This course includes your AHA BLS renewal, skills sign off and optional skills verification.

Current NREMT Paramedics (60 hours)

60 hours of CE hours are required every 2 years to maintain certification. Our 60 hour CE course is offered in addition to the state EMT or paramedic course offerings. This course includes your AHA BLS renewal, skills sign off and optional skills verification. Student must request affiliation with Kern CPR through their NREMT log in.

BRN / CE Courses (Coming Soon..)

Current RNs (30 hours)

30 hours of contact hours/CEs are required every 2 years to maintain certification. Courses offered include Initial/Renewal ACLS and/or PALS and others. ACLS/PALS schedule can be found under the Calendar link of this page.

CNA/HHA CE Courses (48/24 Hours)

CNAs must complete 48 hours of CE hours, 12 per year for a 2 year period to maintain certification. A maximum of 24 hours may be completed online.
